€14 million Contract signed for New Main Drainage Scheme in Bandon– Daly

Cork South West Fine Gael TD and Minister of State at the Department of Health, Jim Daly, has today confirmed that the contract for the Bandon Main Drainage Scheme has been signed.

“Officials in Irish Water have confirmed to me that a contract for €14 million has been signed with EPS for the Bandon main drainage scheme, with work beginning on the scheme in the coming few weeks.”

“The signing of this contract will facilitate many other projects to be progressed such as footpaths, road surfacing and recreation areas that I have been working on over the last number of years but were on hold pending the drainage scheme.”

A €14 million investment is being made into the water infrastructure in Bandon, upgrading the towns Waste Water Treatment Plant, constructing a new Storm Pumping Station and installation of new pipelines, storm water storage tank and odour treatment facility.

Minister Daly concluded by saying, “The Bandon Main Drainage Scheme was part and parcel of the Flood Relief works to ensure not only are the residents and businesses in Bandon protected from future flooding but to also ensure that the town benefits from a new main drainage scheme.”
