West Cork coastal community projects to receive over €80,000 in funding – Daly

Coastal community projects in West Cork will benefit from €80,000 in funding, Cork South West Fine Gael TD and Minister of State, Jim Daly, has confirmed.

The grants are co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union under Ireland’s European Maritime & Fisheries Fund Operational Programme for the seafood sector.

Minister Daly said: “My Ministerial colleague, Minister Creed confirmed to me that applications for funding in Castletownbere, Bantry, Baltimore and Courtmacsherry amongst others in West Cork have been approved for funding. The FLAGs initiative is proving a fantastic success and the grants awarded to our local coastal projects to date in 2018 will be a hugely important boost to our coastal communities.”

“I want to congratulate those who were successful in their application for funding, whether it was to help purchase equipment or to encourage more tourism to the West Cork Coastline through festivals and other initiatives. I would encourage all coastline communities along West Cork to submit applications now for the 2019 round of funding. Details on the FLAG scheme and on how to apply can be found at www.bim.ie/schemes.”
