Almost €1 million just announced for N71 Bypass road in Clonakilty

Clonakilty based Fine Gael TD Jim Daly has just confirmed to C103 news
that almost €1 million euro is to be made available to carry out works
on the Bypass road in Clonakilty on the N71 national route. The
National Roads Authority have confirmed this additional funding will
be made available this year in correspondence to Deputy Jim Daly who
has been lobbying the NRA and Minister Leo Varadkar for additional
monies to carry out works on the road surface.

Much anger has been expressed by motorists, pedestrians and cyclists
who have to travel this route re the very poor condition of the
surface. The matter has been raised at a number of Town Council
meetings in recent months.

“I am delighted to confirm that the very substantial amount of
€950,000 is to be allocated to the Clonakilty By pass route. This road
is not only serving local traffic but as a part of the N71 caters for
up to ten thousand cars every day. This is very welcome funding in
these difficult and challenging economic times and will be a welcome
boost to the local economy.” stated Jim Daly.
