Long awaited €300,000 extension for Knockskeagh N.S gets Green light

I welcome the long overdue announcement that Knockskeagh NS is to
receive a devolved grant of €300,000 to build an extension on site to
replace the existing five Pre Fabs. This is justice at last for the
long suffering school community. I am delighted to have played my part
as the local TD in raising the topic numerous times in the Dáil as
well as impressing the seriousness of the issue with Minister Ruairí
Quinn and a number of officials in the school buildings unit within
the Department of Education. My very first public meeting as a public
representative was at Knockskeagh NS in 2004.
I commend the efforts of the previous and presemt Boards of Management
and Principals at the school who have campaigned tirelessly for this
day. This very welcome news follows on from previous announcements in
relation to Clonakilty Community College and Clonakilty Gaelscoil. All
three schools have been campaigning for over a decade for these
respective projects.
