€1.5 Billion School Building Programme Announced

> West Cork Fine Gael TD Jim Daly has welcomed the inclusion of five school building projects in the latest announcement by the Minister for Education which will see construction begin in long over due projects in Kinsale, Clonakilty and Skibbereen.

> Five schools in West Cork are included in an announcement of new builds and extensions to commence over the next five years. Among the Towns to benefit from the School building programme are Kinsale, Clonakilty and Skibbereen with both Kinsale and Clonakilty receiving good news on the double.
> Kinsale’s two primary schools St. Joeseph’s and St. John’s will be amalgamated and accommodated in a new building which will commence in 2013. Kinsale Community College will begin construction of a new extension in 2014.

> Clonakilty will see the construction of a new Gaelscoil in 2012 and the Community College will get it’s long overdue extension in 2015.
>
> Skibbereen will have it’s three secondary schools amalgamated in to one new building on a green field site in 2015.

> I am delighted to welcome this confirmation from the Minister which gives a degree of certainty to the Schools involved and allow them to concentrate on the day to day task of teaching and learning.
