Jim Daly T.D. opens New Full time Constituency Office

PHIL Hogan TD, Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, officially opened newly elected Jim Daly’s Bandon Constituency Office at No 7 South Main St, Bandon last Monday 9th. The Cork South West Fine Gael man had family, friends, party colleagues and well-wishers present to mark the occasion.

Addressing words of welcome, Jim Daly stated that it was ironic, that on a day that Bandon was again on ‘high alert’ because of the danger of potential flooding, the relevant minister of the government should be performing the official opening of the Fine Gael Constituency Office in Bandon. He spoke of the difficulties and challenges faced by the business people of the town in the past and said that he hoped his office would become a community resource into the future.

In thanking Minister Hogan for his attendance, he also thanked his fellow West Cork TD Noel Harrington for his support, his fellow county councillors, and local town council members present, acknowledging, in particular, the presence of the Mayor of Cork County, Kevin Murphy MCC and the Mayor of Bantry, John Connolly.

Minister Hogan spoke of his delight to be in Bandon for the opening and stated that he hoped that the constituency office would be a conduit for community spirit as people sought to help themselves.He congratulated the local Fine Gael organisation and Kevin Murphy MCC in particular, for delivering two FG seats from a possible three for the party in the General Election. He referred to the two outgoing TDs, Jim O’Keeffe, who was unavoidably absent, and Paddy Sheehan, two Fine Gael stalwarts who had given 34 and 25 years’ service respectively to national politics and the people of Cork South West Cork.Concluding the formal ceremony, Jim Daly stated that he looked forward to the challenge ahead and promised to do everything possible for the betterment of Bandon and the people of Cork South West.
